YIKES! Spellcheck quit!

As I was beginning to do a final spellcheck on Gifts from Thol before I sent the file to my formatter, something went berserk.

I had recently upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro to Mojave when I discovered not all was well in paradise.

My MS Word program was acting crazy. When I tried to spellcheck the file all I saw was a big gray box with word choices below. Not a good feeling, let me tell you.

After trying to solve this problem by myself I threw my hands in the air and logged onto the Microsoft website and their support hub. I had an immediate Chat with a nice lady named Jocelyn.

That’s when the nightmare began. It took over two hours to fix the problem. She tried one version after another and we still had the gray box. Then after installing the very latest Word for Mac we had success!

This version of Word is a little different than what I’m used to and even the Review area where spellcheck lives looks different. Nothing like putzing around hunting for things. But, it’s fixed and that’s all I care about.

SnagIt, my screen capture program went belly up

The next disaster from this Mojave OS update was SnagIt. The reason I use this program is because I can capture a panoramic screen — long or wide.

Regular screen capture that’s built into the Mac doesn’t do the scrolling capture. There’s nothing worse than trying to toggle screenshots together to get what you’re trying to show someone.

What this boiled down to was I had to upgrade my SnagIt program to the latest version so it would work with Mojave.

Gifts from Thol is finished and with my formatter!

A whole lot of work went into this book. Before formatting Gifts from Thol, it is 396 pages. That includes the frontmatter pages, the blurb for book 3 (YES! A third Thol book is in the works!), and about the author.

Now, I have turned the file over to my trusty formatter, Darwin Lopena. He has a great eye for detail and all of my books have looked professional and beautiful.

Expect the Gifts from Thol eBook and paperback to be available and on Amazon within the next week or two.

Calling all helpers!

Would you be willing to do me a huge favor?

I have compiled a list of all my books, including the ISBN numbers.

If you are able to lend a hand and approach your library and/or bookstore, please email me and I will send you a PDF of the list.

You can print the list or email it to your librarian or bookstore acquisitions person.
