Screenplays into Novels

Screenplays into Novels

Posted by admin | December 5, 2018 | Uncategorized

Some of my scripts

Not all of my screenplays are listed on my website or are included in my script rack. There’s some that are still under the bed with the dust bunnies, so they aren’t included, but all in all, I have around 14 screenplays.

I’m going to begin adaptations with the nine full length feature scripts on the script rack next year. The first one I’ll tackle is The God Child. It’s 97 pages long, so it won’t take much to fill in the details and make a full 250 page novel out of it.

Decades ago I had adapted two of my big science fiction novels into screenplays — the first Thol book, and Forced Dreams. Those scripts need to be scrapped because both novels have been recently published and don’t even remotely match the old scripts.

Currently, I have seven published novels (Gifts from Thol will be published within a week or two, so make that eight novels), four non-fiction books (including The Puppy Baby Book).

I really need to adapt my original novels into screenplays: The Alcott Family Adventures series (Hot Chocolate, Bitter Chocolate & Spicy Chocolate), Bonded, Gifts from Thol, and Tothars (when I finish it in January).

Gifts from Thol is almost ready to go out the door!

I received the formatted file from Darwin, my formatter. I spent two days reading the PDF on my iPad on the sofa.

Holy macaroni! I can’t believe the edits I need him to make. Places where italics didn’t show up, missing or an incorrect word here and there — the list goes on. Trust me, those weren’t his mistakes, they were mine. After a while a writer/author is blind to the words on the page.

I’ll most likely receive the file by the time you are reading this newsletter. Then it will be off to Amazon and my website. I just remembered that I have to expand the 4 x 6 cover into a paperback cover. Yikes! Will it never end?

Calling all helpers!

Would you be willing to do me a huge favor?

I have compiled a list of all my books, including the ISBN numbers.

If you are able to lend a hand and approach your library and/or bookstore, please email me and I will send you a PDF of the list.

You can print the list or email it to your librarian or bookstore acquisitions person.

Tidbit of information:

No writer can edit their own work. After a while your eyes glaze and you can’t see your own faults on the page.

Never cheap out, dear writer. If you plan to make this a profession then you had better invest in yourself.

Hire the right type of book editor. They come in all sizes and backgrounds: fiction (specify genre), nonfiction, poetry, cookbook, self help, instructions — there are so many flavors!

You do not want to make the mistake of hiring an editor who specializes in poetry to edit your deep space sci fi novel. It would be disastrous!

Help me stay afloat.
